Here’s a bunch of celebs at the Bafta’s, which are British awards for excellence in film. Daniel Day Lewis followed up his Screen Actor’s Guild and Golden Globe wins with Ideal Actor for “There Will Be Blood”. French actress Marion Cotillard (pictured above with Daniel and Anthony Hopkins) won for her portrayal of French singer Edith Piaf in “La Vie En Rose”. “Atonement” won for Best Picture and Production Design, and it was also nominated (but lost) in twelve other categories. Asked about the slight shut-out, co-producer Eric Fellner said: “When you are nominated 14 times and see 12 losses it’s a great relief. Being nominated is an incredible thing. I am incredibly happy to have 14 nominations and two wins.” A great relief? Someone’s lazy and did not want to keep climbing the steps to the stage. Though, I think Kanye West needs to develop that attitude.

I know what you are thinking, “Is Gay Pride again ALREADY? I feel like I JUST woke up from last year’s hangover.” You know, cause ain’t nothing state “I’m proud” quite like getting drunk, running around in rainbow-colored hot-pants and flashing your naughty bits.
However that’s not the case and Charlize is simply enjoying the company of some members of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals at Harvard following her acceptance of their Woman of the Year Award. A spokesperson for the organization said of Charlize, “She’s done so many different projects, she has such a range, she is someone we can look up to.”
Well, it’s a good thing that it’s not gay pride, like I had originally thought cause those are some sad-looking queens. But I guess that’s how the straight boys do it.
The air-headed heiress received a “Woman of the Year” award from The Harvard Lampoon as you can see here and I am pretty sure it’s the first time she’s ever heard of Harvard. Oh wait, what am I saying? She’s got to have watched “Legally Blonde” at least ten times.
The heiress is in the midst of promoting her film, “The Hottie and The Nottie,” and talked about how her “acting” on “The Simple Life” prepared her for the role in the motion picture. She said, “It’s like a reality show, so I think so I think people think that’s who I really am, but that was just kinda like acting as well.” Blah, blah, blah, that excuse is so OLD, it needs Botox.
How fitting that a she should receive a shiny receptacle such as this as an award, since I’ve often been of the view that she is herself just another shiny receptacle.
Robert De Niro is hit up the red carpet with wife, Grace Hightower, on his way to accepting a Golden Camera award in Berlin. The Golden Camera awards are essentially the German equivalent to the Golden Globes and Bobby received a Lifetime Achievement award. Also, Kylie Minogue was there to receive her award for Best International Music Act.
I did not even know Robert De Niro was married–I had to get all Google on his ass–and am seeing that Grace here’s wife number three. I don’t know how I feel about her outfit. I feel like if I squint, it’s rather fabulous, but also a little overwhelming. It’s like sexy funeral-wear.
Hilary Swank was there too and I don’t know if she was being honored, but I kind of feel like she is got a few too many textures going on in that outfit. And I have my suspicions that there’s a very high-priced hotel in Berlin right now, scratching their heads right now as to where their red curtains went.
Michael Jackson was honored with the Lifetime Accomplishment Award at Saturday’s NRJ Awards in France. He was not present to accept the award, but sent a video to say thank you to all of his French “friends.” Michael actually looks good (relatively speaking), and speaks about his upcoming “Thriller” anniversary album.
Britney Spears’s latest album “Blackout” won International Album of the Year. Brit’s work won over Amy Winehouse, James Blunt, Mika, and Rihanna.
Britney was apparently too sick (in a good way!) or too busy browsing the aisles at Rite-Aid to drag Adnan to Cannes to accept the award. Perhaps she was upset NRJ didn’t ask her to perform this year — giving the rest of the world a reason to thank the French.
