It’s no secret that the magic and passion that made Jack and Rose so perfect in Titanic, and the same kind of magic and passion (albeit less obvious) that Frank and Alice Wheeler had in Revolutionary Road was all due to the special kind of love shared between the actors that played these roles, Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. Kate and Leo have often talked endlessly about how extremely fond they’re of each other and they seem to have the only kind of love that lasts in Hollywood - the love of true friendship. The two have often talked about how they grew up in Hollywood together and have always been there for each other and Leo has even walked alongside Kate on the red carpet in the absence of Kate’s husband, Sam Mende (who, btw, also directed Revolutionary Road.)
But even with all of the flattery and support, this friendship seems to have been taken to another level - Leo has given Kate a ring and it’s engraved and all! Is this weird? From ET On the web,
“Actress Kate Winslet has her ‘Revolutionary Road’ costar Leonardo DiCaprio wrapped around her finger!
Kate — who is married to ‘Revolutionary Road’ director Sam Mendes — wears a gold ring given to her from Leo, in addition to her wedding rings, according to Flare magazine.
“Yes, [Leo’s ring] is engraved on the inside,” she describes the gift to the publication, “but I’m not going to tell you what it states.”
Now given that Sam seems to be absolutely on-board with this whole super-close friendship and that everyone, especially Kate and Leo, are always joking about how tight they are, I don’t think the fact that he gave her a ring is weird, engraved or not. BUT. It completely depends on which finger she’s wearing it. If she’s actually wearing it on the same finger as her wedding bands, that’s weird. If not, I really don’t see it as being any different than if a girlfriend had given her a ring. Man, I want to know what that engraving states!

Hey, Golden Globes, sorry your celebration sucked. Luckily, though, the National Board of Review Awards pulled through with a kegger next door, attracting all kinds of A-listers eager to put on their ideal dark suits and dresses and take a stroll down the red carpet. Since the winners had already been announced before the ceremony, there was no guesswork and the whole “I am clapping with this forced smile on my face because I’m so happy for you that you won and not me and there’s probably a camera filming me is not there” moment between nominees was avoided totally. And here is George Clooney looking pensive, but knowing he’s safe because an awards show is the last place that Fabio would think to look for him.
Husband and wife, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck were both present for their respective projects. Ben was presented with a directing award by his brother, Casey, who starred in Ben’s film, “Gone Baby Gone.” Jennifer, looking like the older sister of her co-star in “Juno,” Ellen Page, gladly handed over the breakthrough-performance award to the 20-year-old Page.
This is just a sentence dedicated to how smashing I think Kate Winslet looks. That is all.
“No Country for Old Men” stars Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin were also on hand, taking the formal, grizzled look to a whole new level and seriously, can y’all believe that Catherine Zeta Jones and that old dude are still going at it?

When it was first reported that Nicole Kidman was dropping out of director Stephen Daldry’s post-World War II Germany drama “The Reader,” which she was supposed to begin shooting this month, it really fueled the already circulating rumors she must be pregnant. Then yesterday’s admission (finally) came that Nicole Kidman is pregnant and everyone was happy except perhaps the motion picture producers for “The Reader” who I am sure were happy for Nicole but what of their high profile movie? Well there seems to be a happy ending for all. Kate Winslet is happily stepping in to take over the role vacated by Nicole Kidman in The Reader.
Sources confirm that, in fact, Winslet was originally offered the role but couldn’t commit due to schedule conflicts. But the dates changed, Nicole got pregnant and now it has come back to Kate.
The arrangement is one of those rare last-minute casting changes that seems to benefit all parties involved. Nicole now has time to rest and focus on her exciting pregnancy, while Kate gets a substantial role in a sweeping World War II epic, that she and the filmmakers wanted to do together in the first place.
